Most of you know the propensity to attach the zombie moniker to the traditional story of happenings around the death and resurrection of Jesus.  This post takes it up a notch with a tale of a zombie outbreak from the New Testament of the Bible.

Apparently it really is all there in black and white:

“51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and[e] went into the holy city and appeared to many people.”

If you’re keeping score, these would be the magical/religious versions of zombies.  So based on zombie canon, they wouldn’t necessarily be able to create new zombies in a cascade attack.  Like voodoo zombies, we’d have to assume they would take commands from their creator, who in this case is Jesus himself.  So…if ever there were nice and polite zombies, these would be them.

Even within the passage itself we see that it wasn’t everybody raised from the dead, only holy people, who again under the control of a dying Jesus you would think would be pretty passive.  The only problem is that is turns out that Jesus’ death cry is what creates these zombies, so they would be leaderless for the next three days.
