Thank you Governor Quinn!

I didn’t want to offer great products from a great company to my readers.  Noooo!  Why would I want to do something like that?

I was all set to add a bunch of great Zombie related products to the site for everyone to buy (or not) when I found out that Amazon.com has officially locked out all affiliates in the great state of Illinois.  This is due to the passage of HB 3659.  This requires that online retailers collect state sales tax (6.25%) for the State of Illinois.

Of course Amazon wants nothing to do with this.  And I understand it’s position, collecting sales tax for an affiliate is a pain in the ass.  All of it had to do with local Chicago push by brick and mortar retailers to stop the siphon of sales by Amazon, and I think that’s crap.

First of all, I love Amazon.com.  As a customer, and as an affiliate.  I love Amazon Prime shipping, and where else can you get Zombie killing tomahawks and a 6 month supply of MREs in the same brick and mortar store.  Wal-mart comes close, and to be fair they are offering to sign up the wayward Illinois affiliates.  The problem is…I hate Wal-mart.  As a company both brick and mortar and online, they suck.

So now I’m going to shop around and see who’s worth doing business with.  I may not be able to sell you fine people zombie weapons for a little while, but I’m sure Barnes and Noble or Borders will take up the slack in books and movies.  I do find it a little hypocritical though that I actually by all my books from Amazon, but have to sell the same books to you through someone else.
